Barbara Helen Pickett is a watercolour and mixed media artist from the "West Coast of Ontario", now living in Grand Bend,
with it's incredible sunsets, sand dunes, and scenery kissed by Mother Nature.
For 20 years I have been painting architecture and scenery based on my local surroundings, from Northwestern Ontario,
Muskoka, Port Credit, Grand Bend and travels further abroad. My studies included classes from the
Newmarket School of Fine Art and Visual Arts Mississauga, where I grew to appreciate how watercolour allows
the paint to dance on the paper, reflect light, and how the mix of certain colours can result in truly luminous paintings.
Between the softness of this medium, and "happy accidents", watercolours truly allow for unique art pieces.
I enjoy taking photographs of unique vistas that I later turn into paintings, usually combining bits
and pieces of multiple photos to arrive at a result that captures the charm of the scene.
I have led numerous watercolour painting workshops, exhibited in juried shows and arts drives,
as well as in my first "Virtual Gallery Show", in conjunction with the Arts on the Credit, of Mississauga.
I currently exhibit at the Sunset Arts Gallery at 63 River Road in Grand Bend.
I invite you to take a walk with me into a "World of Watercolour" and find a scene that makes you smile, and if you are in
the area, pop on by the Sunset Arts Gallery to see my pieces up close...Barbara
